Rangnick Calls MU's Victory Over Leeds Best Response Thin The Difference Issue

JAKARTA - Manchester United (MU) won 4-2 when they visited Leeds headquarters on Sunday, February 20. For the coach, Ralf Rangnick's victory was enough to be the best answer to dismiss the issue of division in the squad lately.

"It (the win) was perfect in terms of maturity, solidarity and it was the best reply they (players) could give to some of the articles last week about the issue of disturbances in the dressing room," Rangnick said.

Regarding the issue of division within the Red Devils camp, it involves two big names, namely Cristiano Ronaldo and the captain, Harry Maguire. The two are reportedly involved in a cold war over the position of team captain.

Maguire himself has been appointed as captain since United were still led by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, two years ago. However, Maguire's authority as captain began to be questioned after Ronaldo's arrival to Old Trafford.

Apart from this cold war issue, Maguire can prove his sharpness when appearing against Leeds. In the match of week 26 of the 2021/2022 Premier League at Elland Road Stadium, the captain scored the opening goal which was then fulfilled by Bruno Fernandes until MU took the lead in the first half.

Leeds then managed to equalize early in the second half. But the situation was again in favor of the Red Devils because the last minute of the second half they added two goals through Fred and Anthon Elanga until the match ended 4-2.

Responding to the perfect results achieved by his team in this match, Rangnick said he was happy. The coach said that in addition to getting full points, this victory was also important for the team's situation.

"Apart from the three points, this is the most important thing for the survival of the team," explained Rangnick.
