JAKARTA – UFC featherweight star Brian Ortega captured this year's Valentine's Day in a different way. He chose to tattoo the first name of his fiancé Tracy Cortez on the inside of his lower lip.
This is known from Ortega's latest upload on his personal Instagram account. The upload in the form of a video shows a tattooist completing the final stages of a tattoo that reads 'Tracy' with a 'love' sign.
"All I can say is… I LOVE HIM," Ortega wrote accompanying the upload, quoted by the Daily Star.
Tattooing on the inside of the lips certainly has the effect of unimaginable pain. However, it seemed to Ortega that the power of love was so much greater than the prick of that tiny needle that he dared to tattoo the most painful places on his body.
It is not yet known how long the pair have been together. However, they are rumored to be engaged after Cortez was spotted wearing a diamond ring when Ortega lost to Alexander Volkanovski last September.
Ortega isn't the only person in this relationship who's used to going to tattoo parlors. Cortez, who is also involved in MMA, also has many tattoos on his body, especially on his arms.
The tattoo on the arm is the most important thing for Cortez. He got the tattoo in honor of his brother Jose, who died in 2011 after battling cancer.
"Every time I feel tired or wonder 'why do I need all this?' I remember how my brother was battling heart cancer, and he didn't give up," Cortez said.
