JAKARTA - The agenda for the 2021/2022 League 1 competition has again been postponed due to the impact of COVID-19. This time it was the turn of the 24th-week match between Persija Jakarta and Madura United.

The match was postponed due to the large number of players who were exposed to COVID-19. The number of players from one of the competing teams does not meet the requirements as stated in the 2021/22 Liga 1 regulations, especially article 52.

As a result of this condition, PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) as the operator of the competition decided that the Persija vs Madura United match was postponed. The decision was issued after an emergency meeting was held on Wednesday afternoon WITA, February 9, 2022.

"Yesterday we carried out a PCR test on Persija officials and players. As a result, the number of Persija players who are ready to compete do not meet the requirements", said the Director of Operations of PT LIB, Sudjarno, in an official statement, received Wednesday, February 9.

"This morning, we retested the PCR for players. The result is not much change. Therefore, at around 15.00 WITA we held an emergency meeting and the match was declared postponed", he explained.

Regarding the decision to postpone the match, Sudjarno added that it had been agreed by Persija and Madura United, the two teams that would compete.

"The emergency meeting was attended by representatives from Persija Jakarta, Madura United, match supervisors, LOC, and LIB. Everyone knows and understands the results of the emergency meeting", said Sudjarno.

Regarding the rescheduling of the match between Persija Jakarta and Madura United, PT LIB will announce it further. This postponement is also expected to be an additional time for both teams in pursuing a more prime condition of players.

"We also hope that this delay will be an additional recovery time for both teams", he said.
