Indonesia Sends 22 Representatives To All England 2022

JAKARTA — Indonesia will send as many as 22 badminton players to the All England 2022 event. The names that are the mainstay in each sector will go to the Super 1000 level tournament.

Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon's men's doubles will certainly play. This will be their first championship since the last time they appeared in the BWF World Tour Final in early December 2021.

The pair Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan joined the squad for the men's doubles. The Daddies and Minions will be accompanied by four other couples, including Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto.

Meanwhile, Greysia Polii/Apriyani Rahayu took the lead in the women's doubles. Together with this pair of Olympic gold medalists, they are Nita Violina Marwah/Putri Syaikah, Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma/Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi, and Ribka Sugiarto/Febby Valencia Dwijayanti.

Before appearing at the All England, Apriyani will first warm up at the German Open on March 8-13. In the BWF Super 300 level event, the 23-year-old athlete will partner with Siti Fadia Ramadhanti.

In the mixed doubles sector, Rinov Rivaldy and Pitha Haningtyas Mentari are the mainstays. This is after the best mixed doubles Praveen Jordan and Melati Daeva Oktavianti were dropped from the PBSI National Training Center.

However, Praveen/Melati continued to participate in the world's oldest event. The national number one pair will come there with the status of a professional player with Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja with her new partner, Dejan Ferdinansyah.

This year's All England will take place from March 16-20. All matches will be played at the Utility Arena Birmingham, Birmingham, England.

Indonesia last won the All England title in 2020 through the Praveen / Melati pair. Meanwhile, in 2021, Indonesia was forced to withdraw from the prestigious event due to problems with the COVID-19 health protocol.
