IBL Requests The Role Of All Parties To Maintain Health Protocols So That IBL Continues To Roll

JAKARTA – IBL President Director Junas Miradiarsyah asked for the role of all parties so that the national basketball competition could continue. This is in line with the surge in COVID-19 cases in the last few days in the 2022 IBL season.

The IBL was forced to postpone the three matches of the second series due to the COVID-19 case that infected players and team personnel. However, the highest caste of national basketball is still going according to plan.

"It takes the responsibility and role of all parties involved in the competition to continue to maintain health protocols, starting from the committee, referees, players and officials. It is the responsibility of the club to look after their players and officials," Junas said in an official statement.

For teams that fail to comply with the health protocol, sanctions have been prepared by the organizers. The sanctions given range from light, medium, to severe categories.

So far, IBL itself has tried to implement strict health protocols. They are required to undergo a test before leaving for the host city and before entering the quarantine bubble.

"We always update the Covid-19 conditions in every city that hosts the IBL series. The Health Protocol carried out by IBL is very strict, only those whose test results are negative can get clearance to enter the bubble," said dr. Panudju from the Royal Sports Medicine Center Hospital in partnership with IBL.

Currently, the Indonesian Patriots team has not obtained the clearance to enter the quarantine bubble. This was after cases of players and team officials were found to be positive for the corona virus.

The team that became the forerunner of the national team should have been scheduled to compete on Sunday, January 30 yesterday, against NSH Mountain Gold. However, the match was canceled due to the COVID-19 case.

On the same day the match between Pelita Jaya versus Satya Wacana Salatiga had to be postponed by the organizers. This is because two Pelita Jaya players, Govinda Julian Saputra and Fernando Fransco Manansang, tested positive with cold and flu symptoms.

Previously on Saturday, IBL had postponed the match between Satria Muda Pertamina against Evos Thunder Bogor. However, so far there has been no new schedule for these postponed matches.

"We have prepared all the possibilities and options. We will see case by case. IBL also always provides reports to related parties. What is certain is that we must always carry out the discipline of health protocols. The journey of this competition is still very long,” concluded Junas.

IBL has entered the second series which took place at C-Tra Arena, Bandung. The match starts on Saturday, January 29 and is scheduled to finish on February 5.
