Ahead Of The Duel Against Thai Boxers, Ongen Saknosiwi: I Practice Fighting With Daud Jordan

JAKARTA – Indonesian boxer Ongen Saknosiwi continues to increase his fighting practice. This is as part of his preparations ahead of a duel against Thai boxer Rattakorn Tassaworn in the nearest March.

Ongen prepares for the duel for the WBC Asia Boxing Council Continental featherweight title (57.1 kg) at Daud Jordan's gym in Sukadana, West Kalimantan. He is under the auspices of coach Edin Diaz.

“I train every morning starting at 7:30 and in the evening at 7:30. For the duration, we adjust the training program," said Ongen, reported by Antara.

Ongen received assistance from a row of Indonesian boxers in the sparring practice. They are boxers under the Daud Boxing Club such as Leonardo Jordan, Agus Kustiawan, Sunardi, and Hizar.

These names have a type of game that is similar to Ongen's potential opponents.

"All preparations went smoothly. So far, it's been at the sparring stage. Everything was very good, and I also trained with Daud Jordan," said Ongen.

Ongen and Tassaworn are scheduled to compete on March 4. Their duel will take place at the World Siam Stadium, Bangkapi, Bangkok, Thailand.

This is Ongen's first duel after two years without being in the ring. He last competed against Filipino boxer Marco Demecillo at Jatim Park 3, Batu, East Java, on November 17, 2019.

Ongen said he needed to be aware of Tassaworn's every move after two years without a duel. In addition to non-technical factors, this match also took place at the opponent's cage.

"I think everything needs to be watched out, but I have prepared myself for the March 4 match and I have learned a lot from David as well," he said.

So far Ongen is unbeaten in eight matches since his professional debut on November 23, 2016. Of the eight matches he has played, seven of them have been achieved by knockout opponents (KO).

While Rattakorn Tassaworn throughout his professional career has a record of 13 wins, four losses, and one draw. All matches take place in Thailand.

In addition to the Ongen versus Tassaworn duel, another Indonesian boxer, Daud Yordan, will also have a duel at the same location and time against Hwang Kil Kim from South Korea for the WBC Asia Boxing Council Silver title in the super light division (63.5 kg).
