Nick Kyrgios: Sexual Frustration For Me Can't Maintain My Best Performance

JAKARTA – Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios has probably graced the mass media more often because of controversy than achievement. There have been many actions and words that often make his opponents so annoyed.

Despite receiving frequent warnings and sanctions, he seemed to ignore it and continued to act. Tennis players like Rafael Nadal have also been annoyed by him with the legal underarm serve.

Kyrgios broke into the global scene after reaching the Wimbledon quarter-finals in 2014 following a win over Nadal. He also reached the same round at the Australian Open the following year.

Unfortunately, lately he has not been able to match that appearance from his 22 appearances in his last grand slam. It turns out that the problem of "sexual frustration" keeps Kyrgios from always at his best.

Kyrgios said that the "sexual frustration" of being away from his girlfriend was the cause of his declining performance on the pitch. This he had experienced at the beginning of his career because he was away from his first girlfriend for many years.

“With my first boyfriend, I was away from him for six months. When you try to perform at the highest level you start to miss someone emotionally, physically and it becomes sexually frustrating."

The 26-year-old had a date with the Croatian-Australian tennis player, Ajla Tomljanovic, until 2018. He was later linked to Chiara Passari before his current partner Costeen Hatzi.

"I was on the pitch and I couldn't play because I was a little aroused. If you know what I mean. It doesn't matter if you are in an office job…. If you don't see your partner, it affects you, your job, your mood, everything."

“I was the moodiest asshole when I was away from my lover for that long,” he added.

Kyrgios had to leave early from this year's Australian Open after being knocked out in the second round. He lost in front of his own fans in a four-set match against Russian Daniil Medvedev.

However, Kyrgios made it to the semifinals in the men's doubles with his co-star Thanasi Kokkinakis. Next the two players will face the pair Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos.
