JAKARTA – It is common knowledge that world-class racers live full of wealth. Last season's Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen was no exception.

The Red Bull racer has a super luxury private plane. No kidding the cost of treatment was more than 1 million pounds per year or around Rp19 billion.

The private jet was bought by the 24-year-old world champion from British billionaire Sir Richard Branson, owner of Virgin Atlantic Airways. The Falcon-900EX type jet was purchased at a price of 12 million pounds, equivalent to IDR 231 billion.

The Falcon-900EX became a means of transportation for the Dutch racer from one race series to another. This luxury jet is capable of driving 895 km / h.

As many as 12 passengers can get on the jet and Verstappen usually gives his Red Bull teammate Daniel Ricciardo a ride from time to time.

The jet also features two reclining seats to make a full size bed. There is also a bar, bathroom and luxury shower. Certainly not the worst for traveling.

Maintenance costs of IDR 19 billion per year barely reduce the wealth owned by Verstappen. Moreover, he has amassed a net worth of around 45 million pounds or IDR 869 billion.

Verstappen sealed his maiden F1 world title last month. He carved out a dramatic victory after overtaking his fierce rival Lewis Hamilton on the final lap of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

However, this victory was finally shrouded in controversy forcing the international automotive parent (FIA) to conduct an investigation. The results of the investigation are planned to be announced in March ahead of the opening race in Bahrain.
