Liverpool Are Considered Not Deserving Of A Penalty When They Win Against Crystal Palace

JAKARTA - Liverpool visit Crystal Palace headquarters, Selhurst Park Stadium in the match week 23 of the 2021/2022 English League. The Reds won 3-1 over the hosts.

However, the victory led to controversy because Liverpool were deemed not worthy of the penitent prize. The reason, that moment became one of the determinants of the Reds' victory.

In the match which took place on Sunday, January 23, WIB, Liverpool managed to ensure three points in this match. Jurgen Klopp's squad won thanks to goals from Virgil van Dijk, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and a penalty executed by Fabinho.

However, Liverpool's closing goal scored by Fabinho was considered invalid. Referee Kevin Friend assessed that Diogo Jota had been violated by Palace goalkeeper Vicente Guaita. But not with netizens.

Social media is also busy discussing this penalty incident. Twitter users think Liverpool don't deserve a penalty.

One reason was put forward by David Meyler. The Irish footballer saw that Jota was no longer in a position to control the ball when he collided with Guaita in the box of 16.

Liverpool's victory over Palace was indeed obtained with difficulty. The reason, the Reds were not able to maintain a good performance in the first half into the second half.

The situation was then exploited by Palace. Patrick Vieira's team actually had a chance to equalize if Alisson Becker had not played brilliantly under the Liverpool bar.

However, it was unfortunate for Palace because the Brazilian goalkeeper was able to make several important saves. Including when thwarting Michael Oliseh's lob kick in the 83rd minute.
