Perbasi Opens 3x3 Basketball Tournament For Production Of Potential Athletes For The National Team

JAKARTA - A 3x3 basketball tournament will be held in the near future by Perbasi and Supersport Sensation (SSS) International. This competition was held to support the birth of potential basketball players.

The championship will be held at GOR Soemantri Brodjonegoro, Kuningan, South Jakarta, on 19-23 February 2022.

"Right now we are in need of players who concentrate on 3x3. In the future, Perbasi will form a 3x3 junior team until the age of 23," said Perbasi Chairman Danny Kosasih in an official statement received by VOI.

The holding of this 3x3 basketball tournament aims to make Indonesia have the availability of potential basketball athletes for important events that will be faced. One of them is the Hanoi SEA Games in May which will be enlivened with 3x3 basketball.

The 3x3 basketball format is a sport that has only been introduced in recent years. For this reason, there are still very few Indonesian athletes who have a concentration in this branch.

Thus, the 3x3 championship can be a place to screen new fans who can be projected to strengthen the Indonesian national team in important events in the future.

"We really welcome this activity. Through 3x3 you will see young people who love basketball for 3x3," said Danny.

In order to achieve a broad reach, the 3x3 basketball tournament is planned to be held simultaneously in four provinces. Apart from Jakarta, this competition will be held in West Java, Central Java, and East Java.

Currently, Indonesia has started to speak on the international stage through the 3x3 basketball branch. At the 2018 Asian Games, the Indonesian women's 3x3 basketball national team made it to the quarter-finals.

A more satisfying achievement occurred at the FIBA 3x3 U-18 event in Cyberjaya, Malaysia. At that time, the Indonesian women's basketball team won a bronze medal.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian men's 3x3 basketball team won a silver medal a year later at the 2019 SEA Games in the Philippines. This achievement certainly provides fresh air for the development of 3x3 basketball which is increasingly loved by the public.
