PBSI Responds To Praveen/Jasmine Questions Who Are Not Called To Take Health Tests

JAKARTA – PBSI responded to a letter of summons for a medical test that did not include the mixed doubles names of Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti.

The exclusion of the Praveen/Melati pair from Pelatnas can be ascertained just waiting for the decision letter from the national badminton parent. This was after the letter numbered 012/3/I/2022 signed by the Deputy Secretary General of PP PBSI Edi Sukarno circulated in the news.

The letter containing the summons for athletes for medical tests on January 19 and 20 did not include the names of Praveen/Melati and another mixed doubles, Hafiz Faizal/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja.

This strengthens the prejudice that Praveen/Melati and Hafiz/Gloria will be expelled from the National Training Center.

However, PBSI's Head of Public Relations and Media Broto Happy Wondomisnowo said that decisions regarding the relegation and promotion of athletes were still waiting for an official decision letter.

"That decision letter (SK) has not been issued. The decree from the general chairman has not been received or shown or announced to the public. It (the medical test letter) is a club matter, but what is certain is waiting for the decree. I can't make assumptions. ," said Broto by telephone to VOI.

The decision letter regarding the promotion and relegation of athletes is likely to be issued within this month.

Praveen/Melati's exclusion from Pelatnas was allegedly based on their poor performance during 2021. The 2020 All England champion could not bring home a single title during that period.

Their best achievements are only runners-up at the Thailand Open 2021 in January and the Hylo Open 2021 in November. After that their performance declined during the Badminton Festival in Bali.

In that event, Praveen/Melati fell in the first round of the Indonesia Masters. They were also only able to reach the second round of the Indonesia Open.
