Pogba Has Been Removed From France Squad After Testing Positive For COVID-19

JAKARTA - Manager Didier Deschamps dropped Paul Pogba's name from the France squad for the Nations League next month. The Manchester United midfielder has tested positive for COVID-19.

Launching The National, Thursday, August 27, World Cup winner Pogba has been replaced by young player Eduardo Camavinga. For the Rennes midfielder, this is the first call-up with Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar and RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano.

"I have completed the final changes in the list (of players), because Paul Pogba, who was previously on the list, unfortunately based on yesterday's test the result was positive this morning," Deschamps told a news conference.

"So at the last moment he should be replaced by Eduardo Camavinga."

United added in a statement: "Pogba has been replaced in the squad after testing positive for Covid-19. The midfielder will not be able to add 69 caps and 10 goals for his country in next month's game.

All parties at United wish Pogba a speedy recovery ahead of the new season.
