JAKARTA - The president of the West Bandits Combiphar Solo basketball team, Gading Marten, asked the Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo for the support of the IBL 2022 competition.

A casual meeting between Gading and Ganjar took place on Tuesday, January 11. Gading came with Norman Sebastian as the representative of West Bandits Combiphar Solo and Choky Sitohang.

"So we have permission, we will immediately compete, we ask for prayers and support. Ask for prayers from Pak Ganjar and coincidentally he took the time today, so this is a very valuable time," said Gading in a statement received by VOI.

West Bandits Solo will be strengthened by homegrown players. These players had strengthened the Central Java PON team that competed in the XX Papua PON.

Ganjar said that he supported the participation of West Bandits in the country's highest basketball caste. He asked the people of Central Java to come and watch the competition live in the province he leads.

"For those who like basketball, watch it, if you can (live) if not, then stream, because there are great players and behind them there are three people," said Ganjar.

West Bandits Solo will participate in the 2022 Indonesian Basketball League (IBL) competition. The team, which is preparing to move its homebase in Solo, will represent Central Java with the Satya Wacana team.

Currently the homebase in Solo is still in the stage of preparing facilities and infrastructure. Gading targets that within one year the facilities for his team will be completed so that they can be used.

"So now IBL goes first, homebase problems will follow. Our name is West Bandits Combiphar Solo, so it would be better if we really had a homebase in Solo," he said.

IBL 2022 is scheduled to run from January 15 to May 29, 2022. A total of 16 teams divided into two divisions will be contestants for this event.

There are four new teams in the IBL this season. They are Bumi Borneo Basketball Pontianak, Evos Basketball Bogor, RANS PIK Basketball, and Tangerang Hawks.
