JAKARTA - Senior men's doubles badminton players, Mohammad Ahsan / Hendra Setiawan will continue to go to the India Open 2022 even though currently strict quarantine rules are enforced in the country.

The Indonesian government has set quarantine rules after arriving back in Indonesia, ranging from 7-10 days. This was done as a strict anticipation of the transmission of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.

However, The Daddies don't mind the applicable regulations. Both of them are still excited to appear and represent Indonesia in the tournament with the Super 500 lever.

"God willing, we will continue to leave. It is indeed a risk if we return from abroad to be quarantined," said Ahsan in a statement received by VOI on Tuesday, December 4.

The India Open 2020 tournament itself will take place in New Delhi, India on January 11-16. This agenda is one of three major tournaments that will take place in India.

The other two are the Syed Modi India International tournament which takes place January 18-23 and is followed by the Odisha Open on January 25-30. However, Ahsan/Hendra confirmed that they would only compete at the 2022 India Open.

"We only participated in the Super 500 (India Open)," Ahsan added.

Ahsan/Hendra are scheduled to depart from the country on January 7th. Referring to the results of the draw, Ahsan / Hendra occupy the position as the first seeds.

In the level 500 tournament, Ahsan/Hendra will face the host players, Prem Singh Chouhan/Rajesh Verma in the first round.

Before Ahsan/Hendra decided to go to India, PBSI first decided not to send players to this tournament. The top Indonesian badminton federation mentioned a number of factors behind the decision.

One of the strongest is related to the performance of the representatives who are considered not to be optimal. This is due to the tight schedule of tournaments that will be followed throughout 2021, especially from September to December.
