JAKARTA - The President Director of the Indonesian Basketball League (IBL) Junas Miradiarsyah stated that the 2022 season competition is ready to roll on as planned starting January 15 in Jakarta while still implementing the bubble system like the previous season.
There are six series in six cities that will be held during the regular season, starting from Jakarta, Bandung, DI Yogyakarta, Solo, Surabaya, and Denpasar.
"There is no change (schedule), all cities have provided support. Last December 17, there was a cross-ministerial coordination meeting," Junas said as quoted by Antara, Thursday.
“Hopefully our plan to invite the audience back will be granted (permission). Temporary attendance will be applied, but if in the last week before the draw increases it will be cancelled. So flexible," he continued.
Junas explained that the organization of the league next season is almost the same as the previous season, except that it will not be held centrally in one location, but will still apply the bubble principles in general.
There are rules that are enforced such as tightening the activities of the participants which are limited to only around the hotel, training ground, and the location of the match.
He also said that the 2022 IBL will bring in foreign players again after the previous season only consisted of local players.
"As of today, Wednesday, December 29, 2021, from 20 foreign players, 12 players have arrived in Indonesia, and have been quarantined. Some have been released and some are still in the process," he said.
"The roster will be delivered on January 3, 2022," added Junas.
