JAKARTA - Indonesian men's singles badminton athlete, Jonatan Christie or fondly called Jojo, plans to fulfill his vow of giving a bonus of 50 percent for former athletes who are still lacking.

"Some time ago I made a vow if I get an award that comes from the government and according to the distribution that I will get later, I want to give 50 percent of the award I get to former athletes who may now live less or less fortunately than we all athletes of today. now," wrote Jojo on his personal Instagram account that was monitored Tuesday.

The 2018 Asian Games men's singles gold winner also asked netizens to inform him who was a former athlete who deserved help from him.

"Please, if anyone knows who it is and knows where to contact them, please write in the comments column below," he wrote.

"And if I may include his active period and his achievements as an athlete when representing Indonesia on the international stage," added the athlete who had just got engaged.

Jojo's statement on social media immediately received a lot of positive responses from the public, including a former national badminton player known as the 100 Watt Smesh, namely Hariyanto Arbi. "Amazing Jo" with added thumbs up emoji.

The government through the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) officially gave bonuses to the 2020 Thomas Cup team and was symbolically received directly by the General Chairman of the Central Board of the Indonesian Badminton Association (PP PBSI) Agung Firman Sampurna at the Wisma Kemenpora, Jakarta, last Monday.

For that, he did not forget to thank President Joko Widodo and Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Zainudin Amali after the bonus of winning the 2020 Thomas Cup from the government of Rp. 10 billion was liquidated.
