PSSI Chairman Respects Shin Tae-yong's Decision Not To Demote Egy In The Indonesia Vs Singapore Match

JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team will face Singapore in the semifinals of the AFF Cup 2020 on Wednesday, December 22, at 19.30 WIB. Ahead of the match, Shin Tae-yong ensured that he would not include Egy Maulana Vikri in his line-up.

In fact, Egy has arrived from Slovakia to defend the national team. Regarding the decision, the General Chair of PSSI, Mochamad Iriawan said he would respect whatever the coach's decision in the team was.

"We also have to respect Shin Tae-yong", said Iriawan, quoted from the official PSSI website.

Previously, it was known that Iriawan was eagerly waiting for Egy's presence in the Garuda squad. He even actively monitored Egy's journey to report that the player was actually in Singapore.

What Iriawan did could not be separated from his view of Egy's presence which could increase the team's breaking power. Therefore, Iriawan was so excited when Egy joined the team.

"Egy Maulana Vikri is an experienced player and believes his presence will have an impact on the strength of the Indonesian national team", he said.

Unfortunately, when he arrived in Singapore, Egy was not included in the squad list to face the hosts. Regarding this, Shin Tae-yong said that Egy had just taken a long trip which made him tired.

For that reason, Shin Tae-yong was reluctant to force Egy into the starting line-up. The coach chose to give Egy time to rest so that Egy could perform optimally in the second leg match next Saturday.
