JAKARTA - Having been on hiatus for a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the prestigious Indonesian volleyball competition, Proliga, will resume.
This assurance was conveyed by the Executive Board of the All-Indonesian Volleyball Association (PB PVSI), Imam Sudjarwo, who said that the 2022 Proliga would be held from 7 January to 27 March.
"People's longing will be cured by the presence of Proliga 2022, which will be played again from January 7 to March 27," Imam said at an online press conference at the Ministry of Youth and Sports office, Jakarta, on Friday, December 17 afternoon.
Regarding the implementation of the Proliga this season, which only lasted three months, Imam explained, the volleyball team had to prepare for the SEA Games in Vietnam.
"If it usually (lasts) for five months, this time we will only (competition) for three months, because after that we will face the SEA Games in Vietnam," continued Imam.
Regarding the system for organizing the 2022 Proliga season, which was held in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Imam also explained that later the competition will use a centralized system where all agendas will take place in one predetermined location, namely at the Padepokan Volleyball Hall of Police General Kunarto, Sentul, Bogor.
"During the Proliga matches, it will be held in one place and centrally. So all preliminary, top four and final rounds will be held there without spectators," explained Imam.
Considering that this competition was held in the midst of a pandemic, Imam also emphasized that the organizers would implement high-level health protocols. One of them is held behind closed doors and without spectators.
Even so, Imam ensured that PVSI would provide live broadcast services so that the Indonesian people could still watch every 2022 Proliga match.
