These 5 Indonesian Fighters Will Compete At ONE Championship 2022

JAKARTA - Five of Indonesia's best fighters are scheduled to return to compete in the ONE Champioship 2022 international free-fight event (MMA), although the location and time of the fight has not been determined by the championship organizers.

Quoting Antara, Wednesday, the five Indonesian fighters who are expected to achieve the best results are Eko Roni Saputra (Flyweight), Stefer Rahardian (Strawweight), Adrian Mattheis (Strawweight), Elipitua Siregar (Flyweight) and Priscilla Hertati Lumban Gaol (Atomeight).

Former national wrestling champion Eko Roni Saputra is arguably the most popular MMA star in Indonesia right now and he has continued to improve significantly in his last six bouts in ONE Championship. However, at the age of 30, time is ticking and Eko must quickly enter the top ranks of the flyweight division.

That opportunity could come by battling Thailand's rising star Yodkaikaew Fairtex who offers Eko a fantastic risk-to-reward ratio. Yodkaikaew has won three of his last four matches, with impressive victories over John Shink, Alex Schild and the highly respected Japanese fighter Tatsumitsu Wada.

If Eko can beat Yodkaikaew who is a dangerous striker, it signifies his readiness to face the big names in the division.

"I want to fight again in early 2022 and I will maintain my winning momentum. Even though I am in a moment of victory, I don't consider it a burden. I just keep on winning after victory," said Eko previously.

Former ONE Indonesia Flyweight champion Stefer Rahardian has been sidelined for more than two years due to multiple injuries and health issues, as well as COVID-19 restrictions that have hampered his training. However, there is good news that Stefer is getting closer to returning to the Circle.

Unfortunately, for "The Lion" he is in a declining phase of form after swallowing four defeats from his last five matches. The losing streak started with a unanimous decision loss to former world title challenger Rene Catalan.

A rematch between Stefer and the Catalans would be awesome. Rene Catalan brings his incredible experience to life, having faced the top five Strawweight fighters in his last three fights. Like Stefer, however, he also desperately needs a win.

Next up was former ONE Strawweight Indonesia tournament champion Adrian Mattheis saying that he is ready to return in 2022 and he is feeling great both physically and mentally.

Adrian who is at his best at the moment has a 9-5 record (9 wins and 5 losses) with four submission wins and four knockouts to face Jeremy “The Jaguar” Miado of the Philippines who has won three of his last four matches, including two wins. KO to Miao Li Tao of China.

One of the brightest talented fighters and the Indonesian National Wrestling Champion, Elipitua Siregar, also gets his share of competing and according to the plan, he will face a veteran fighter from South Korea, Kim Kyu Sung.

The fifth Indonesian fighter to return is the veteran female atomweight ONE Championship fighter who recently gave birth to her first child, Priscilla Hertati Lumban Gaol and is scheduled to face China's Lin Heqin.
