Next Year, Sentul Circuit Is Redesigned, Ready To Hold An International Event

JAKARTA - The Governor of West Java (Jabar) M Ridwan Kamil said the Sentul Circuit in Bogor Regency will be redesigned in 2022.

The circuit, which was once the venue for MotoGP racing in 1996, will later become one of the best circuits in the world under the name West Java Sentul International Circuit.

"Next year, it will rebound and be redesigned to become one of the best circuits in the world, the West Java Sentul International Circuit," said Ridwan Kamil as quoted by Antara, Monday.

Kang Emil, as Ridwan Kamil is called, hopes that the West Java Sentul International Circuit can again hold an international event. That way, tourism and the community's economy can increase.

"Later on, we can hold international level events, and it is hoped that tourism and the people's economy here will increase," said Kang Emil.

He also asked for support from all parties so that in the future the West Java Sentul International Circuit can become the pride of Indonesia, such as the Lombok Mandalika Circuit.

"If NTB has the Mandalika Circuit, then West Java has the West Java Sentul International Circuit, we ask for support from all parties," said Kang Emil.

The plan to renovate the Sentul Circuit was welcomed by the General Chair of the Indonesian Motorcycle Association (IMI) Bambang Soesatyo who was also present at the 2021 Presidential Cup Duck Motorcycle Race. IMI stated that it would fully support the plan.

"We have heard that the Governor (of West Java) conveys his determination that this circuit will rebound, it will be renovated to become a leading circuit, we must support it," said Bambang.

He hopes that the new face of the Sentul Circuit will have an impact on achievements and the birth of quality automotive athletes.

"Hopefully, more advanced Indonesian automotive athletes will be born here," Bambang hoped.

The 2021 President's Cup Duck Motorcycle Racing Championship organized by IMI is planned to be opened directly by President Joko Widodo. However, the President was unable to attend because there was an agenda that could not be abandoned.

"The President should be present to open the ceremony, but because there is an agenda that cannot be abandoned, he sends his greetings to keep the spirit," concluded Bambang.

Ridwan Kamil previously also watched the 2021 Presidential Cup Duck Motorcycle Racing National Championship at Sentul Circuit, Babakan Madang, Bogor Regency, last Sunday.
