8 Tottenham Players And 5 Staff Stung By COVID-19, The Match Against Rennes In The Conference League Is Postponed

JAKARTA - The Europa Conference League match between Tottenham and Rennes had to be postponed because the North London club was recently hit by a storm of COVID-19 cases.

Spurs coach Antonio Conte revealed on Wednesday that eight players and five members of the club's staff had tested positive for the virus in recent days.

UEFA rules stipulate that a game must be played if 13 players, including the goalkeeper, are fit to play.

However, Conte insists he only has 11 players available for the group decider in the Europa Conference League.

"We can confirm that our Conference League Group G match at home against Stade Rennais will not be played tomorrow following the COVID-19 case at the club," Tottenham wrote in an official statement, quoted by Antara on Thursday.

"A series of discussions are ongoing with UEFA and we will provide updates on the fixture schedule instead."
