JAKARTA - Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuettl believes new Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick can make a big impact during the next six months of coaching the Red Devils.

United appointed Rangnick, 63, as caretaker boss until the end of the season after sacking Ole Gunnar Solskjaer earlier this month which left the club stranded eighth in the league table.

He will then continue his role with United as a consultant for two years after his coaching contract expires.

"I know him well. We had two successful years at RB Leipzig. He was sporting director and I was the coach after he promoted the team in the Bundesliga," Hasenhuettl told reporters ahead of Wednesday's clash with Leicester City.

"I know what he is like and how he works, he is a hard worker. He needs a very good team around him and for sure he will then not hesitate to make changes there, because he does not want any weakness in any part of his club."

"Half a year is not too long to turn things around, to be honest. But especially at the start, he will make a big impact at the club. I have sent a message to congratulate him, it has been a dream to be in the Premier League and now has come true."
