Even Though They Were Eliminated, The Indonesia Masters Event Left An Impression On Ginting: A Form Of Refreshing

JAKARTA - Anthony Sinisuka Ginting's struggle in the 2021 Indonesia Masters tournament ended after being eliminated in the round of 32 last Thursday. However, the Indonesia Masters 2021 event left an impression on the Indonesian men's singles badminton player.

According to Ginting, the opportunity to appear at the Indonesia Masters 2021 is not just to hunt for a championship title, but also a means of refreshing as long as you follow the system that is applied.

“There is a quarantine that uses a bubble system, but we are free to do anything. It's also a form of refreshing, especially since the match schedule is also tight," Ginting said as quoted from the PBSI website.

This was revealed by Ginting considering that the Indonesia Masters 2021 will be held in Nusa Dua, Bali, which is a foreign tourist destination. Tournament organizers also implement a bubble system.

With this system, players, officials and media coverage are not allowed to leave the venue considering the COVID-19 pandemic is still looming over the country.

Despite having to stay in a predetermined location, Ginting revealed that he and the athletes did not feel constrained. The facilities provided by the organizers actually make them feel like they are on vacation.

“Friends from other countries are happy to be present in Bali. Moreover, (Bali) is one of the vacation spots that they have not been able to go to," he said.

"Even though we are in quarantine here, it feels like a vacation with the facilities provided," Ginting continued.

In line with what Ginting said, Indonesian men's doubles Muhammad Rian Ardianto also felt the same way. The partner duet Fajar Alfian admitted that he was very comfortable during the quarantine period in Bali.

"If quarantine is outside (other countries) only in the room and the training ground. If there are many here, there is a swimming pool, you can go to the beach. We are more comfortable and enjoy it here,” explained Rian.

Despite the sweet impression they felt, Ginting and Rian did not get satisfactory results at the Indonesia Masters 2021. But even so, Ginting and Rian still had the opportunity to give a better performance at the Indonesia Open 2021 which will also be held in Bali.
