JAKARTA - AC Milan officially gets new players for next season. On its official website, the club nicknamed the Rossonerri announced that it had recruited young defender Pierre Kalulu with a five-year contract from the Olympique Lyon academy.

The 20-year-old player was brought in free of charge because he was a free agent after his contract expired. He has undergone a medical in Milan.

"AC Milan announced the signing of Pierre Kalulu, on a permanent transfer. The French player's contract will expire on June 30, 2025," Rossonerri said in a statement.

Kalulu is a right-back player. Although he has never made his debut for Lyon's senior team, he performed quite well in Lyon's 16 matches in the UEFA Youth League.

He has also played for the France U-20 national team three times, and made 12 appearances for the U-19 national team.

The recruitment of Kalulu, although it was only inaugurated on Wednesday local time or Thursday morning WIB, is not a surprise for Milan. They have reportedly succeeded in persuading Kalulu to move closer to the fashion city since last June.

Kalulu's arrival will heat up competition for a position on the right side of Milan's defense. That position in the 2019/2020 season is occupied by Andrea Conti and Davide Calabria, who are considered unable to provide convincing performances.
