Make A Good Record At FIA WEC LMP2, Sean Gelael: Hopefully Next Season Will Be Up In Class

JAKARTA - Indonesian racer Sean Gelael managed to close this season with a good record when he fell in the LMP2 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) class. Based on these results, Sean is optimistic that next season he can move up to a higher class.

Previously it was known, Sean was able to carve a slick achievement at the end of this year's season. Together with the JOTA #28 team he managed to bring the red and white flag flying on the podium for the runner-up position.

Together with Tom Blomqvist (England) and Stoffel Vandoorne (Belgium), Sean finished third in the last race in Bahrain. Based on the points collected from the results of the race, Sean and the team won 131 points.

From that note, Sean did not close himself and hopes to rise to a higher level next season. The 25-year-old racer is also not happy because he is also still open to the possibility of remaining in LMP2.

"The hypercar is still new, for 2022 with limited seats. Maybe more or still in LMP2, because everything has not been confirmed," Sean said at a press conference at the Central IMI Office, Jakarta, Indonesia on Wednesday, November 10.

With these possibilities, Sean, who is still undecided, only hopes for prayers and support. Because, whatever he chooses later, he will do it on behalf of Indonesia.

"Maybe ask for prayers in 2023 (can go up to a higher class)," he said.

Apart from that, please note that in his inaugural season in the WEC event, Sean also participated in two other events, namely the Asian Le Mans Series (ALMS) and the European Le Mans Series (ELMS).

In the two events, Sean also managed to win the podium. He managed to win two rounds at ALMS Abu Dhabi, and one round ELMS Monza with a third place record. This result proves that perseverance and flying hours are the keys to his success at the 2021 FIA WEC LMP2.
