Fasting The Title During The European Tour, Praveen/Melati Were Flicked By The Coach

JAKARTA - Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti's appearance on their European tour in recent weeks has been under the spotlight of their coach, Nova Widianto. The Indonesian mixed doubles pair were short of titles from the three individual tournaments they participated in.

The runner-up position is Praveen/Melati's highest achievement. In fact, last year, this mixed doubles had a reputation as the champion of the European tour.

Praveen/Melati's last defeat was obtained by representatives of Thailand, Dechapol Puavaranukroh/Sapsiree Taerattanachai in the final of the Hylo Open 2021, Sunday, November 7th.

The defeat in the final of the Hylo Open 2021 was the fourth in a row experienced by Praveen/Melati from Dechapol/Sapsiree. In the 2021 Hylo Open final, both of them even lost two straight games with a score of 22-20, 21-14.

The unsatisfactory results became a record for Nova. The coach said the failure experienced by Praveen / Melati was because both of them often made their own mistakes.

"This is very detrimental because they appear in the final," Nova said, quoted from Badminton Indonesia, Monday, November 7.

Nova then explained the mistakes made by each of his foster children.

"Jasmine, as I have said before, does not seem confident. The game seems to be confused by itself," he said.

"As for Praveen, his hand strength seems to have decreased. In addition, he also has a lot of balls that die easily," said the coach.

Furthermore, Nova did not deny that Praveen/Melati's performance was not optimal even though they were able to advance to the final round. In fact, according to him, Praveen / Melati have a chance to win the title at the Hylo Open 2021.

"In the first game, there was actually a chance for Praveen / Melati to win. But the Thai pair were indeed calmer at critical points," he said.

Despite the fast title on the European tour, Praveen / Melati still have a chance to make amends. Because, both of them will be fielded again at the Indonesia Masters 2021 on November 16-21 and the Indonesia Open 2021 on November 23-28.

If in that tournament they are able to penetrate the top eight in the World Tour rankings, Praveen/Melati are entitled to return to appear in the 2021 BWF World Tour Finals which will also be held in Bali.
