JAKARTA - Aston Villa has officially brought in players of Indonesian descent Ian Maatsen from Chelsea for a transfer value of 35 million (around Rp. 723 billion).
"Aston Villa announced the arrival of Ian Maatsen from Chelsea," the club nicknamed The Villains on their official website said on Saturday.
The 22-year-old defender last season was loaned to Borussia Dortmund and helped the Bundesliga club reach the Champions League final.
Maatsen himself will only join after the 2024 European Cup. He is currently defending the Dutch national team and preparing to face the Romanian national team in the last 16 of the 2024 European Cup on Tuesday (2/7).
Maatsen became the second player Aston Villa brought in in this transfer window after Lewis Dobbin, who was signed in on loan from Everton.
