Jeep Recalls Thousands of Wrangler Hybrids and Grand Cherokee in China, What's the Problem?

JAKARTA - Jeep has recalled or recalled the Wrangler Hybrid 2.0T 4xe Sahara and Grand Cherokee 4xe in China, due to a power battery problem caused by internal damage.

Based on the report from Autohome, quoted, Sunday, December 28, the affected model is 4,731 units of the Jeep Wrangler Hybrid 2.0T 4xe Sahara four-door vehicle, imported which was produced between January 19, 2021 and September 11, 2023.

Then 392 units of imported four-door Jeep Wrangler Hybrid 2.0T 4xe Rubicon imported from 13 January 2021 to 31 March 2023. As well as 3,814 new imported Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe produced between 3 February 2023 and 9 October 2023.

Some vehicles included in this recall may experience a potential fire originating from the power battery due to internal damage, which may cause a vehicle fire and pose a safety hazard.

Jeep advises users before updating the battery power control module software to the latest version, it is recommended to avoid charging the battery and parking the vehicle away from buildings and other vehicles.

In response to the above issues, Jeep will update the battery power control module software for free for vehicles included in the recall and perform a battery power integrity test procedure.

For vehicles that are detected to have internal damage, the power battery assembly will be replaced free of charge to eliminate safety hazards.

The manufacturer will also inform affected users of this recall via registered mail and telephone, so that the problem can be resolved properly.
