JAKARTA - Jetour Motor Indonesia finally spoke up about its plans for major investments in the country. The Chinese automotive brand confirmed that it would not build its own factory in the near future, although the desire was in the company's long-term plan.

According to Jetour Motor Indonesia Marketing Director Moch Ranggy Radiansyah, currently the most ideal strategy is to continue the production partnership with Handal Indonesia Motor (HIM), instead of directly building its own manufacturing facilities.

"For the factory itself, we are currently and in the future still committed to a partnership with Handal. So for the T2 model and the future model is still in a partnership scheme with Handal," said Ranggy in BSD, Tangerang, not long ago.

Jetour's collaboration with Handal Indonesia Motor has so far produced three locally produced models, namely Jetour Dashing, X70, and T2. All three are said to have a local content value or TKDN close to 40 percent.

Ranggy said that the strategy of entrusting production at Handal was the most realistic step so that the company could adapt quickly and efficiently in the early days of business. Although, there are plans to build a factory in the future.

"As an ATPM, our long-term vision is to have our own factory. But for now, we see that partnering with Handal is still the most ideal," he said.

He added that efficiency and speed to market were strong reasons why Jetour stuck to that strategy. Although asked further about plans to build a factory or investment targets in Indonesia, Ranggy did not provide more details.

"Yes, multiple factors, one of which is indeed related to efficiency, one of which is readiness and speed to enter the market through this partnership," said Ranggy again.

Beyond that, Jetour Motor Indonesia is currently developing a parts distribution center in Cikarang, West Java. The 2.4-hectare warehouse is prepared to ensure that Jetour component needs can be met quickly and efficiently throughout Indonesia.

This facility will later store more than 25 thousand units of spare parts, ranging from fast moving parts to slow moving parts, as part of the strategy to strengthen after-sales service in Indonesia.
