Changan's New Breakthrough Bags Level 3 Autonomous Car License

JAKARTA - Changan Automobile continues to innovate by continuing to develop Autonomous Driving. Most recently, the Chinese brand has managed to obtain product access approval for Autonomous Driving Level 3 (L3). This historic achievement was granted by the China Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), as part of the first group to receive conditional autonomous driving licenses in the country. The product access approval for the Level 3 autonomous driving system allows one of Changan's passenger cars to operate in a single-lane autonomous driving mode on certain toll roads and urban flyovers in Chongqing, China. Changan Indonesia CEO, Setiawan Surya, said that Changan Automobile's achievement as one of the first Chinese automotive brands to obtain an Autonomous Driving Level 3 license is an important milestone, not only for the company, but also for the development of the global automotive industry. "This proves that the SDA architecture-based innovation developed by Changan has met strict safety and regulatory standards. We at Changan Indonesia are certainly very proud and appreciate this achievement, as it is a strong foundation in bringing safe, reliable, and relevant smart vehicle technology to Indonesian consumers in the future," he said, in an official statement received, Thursday, March 5.

Changan's success in obtaining the L3 Autonomous Driving license was driven by a very massive system-level validation process, with a total mileage of real-world road tests reaching more than 5 million kilometers. Changan has mapped 185 categories of driving scenarios that exceed the regulatory benchmark by up to 49 percent and places a very large portion of testing in extreme conditions. Technical data shows that this system is capable of handling one complex risk scenario every 38.9 km, proving its operational robustness within the precision-defined Operational Design Conditions (ODC) by the internal technical team. The main foundation of this breakthrough lies in the Software Defined Architecture (SDA) intelligence technology framework, which was developed independently to integrate all phases from system design to mass production.
