Stargazer Becomes Hyundai's Savior in the Midst of the National MPV Market Decline

JAKARTA - In the midst of the sluggish national MPV market throughout 2025, Hyundai Motors Indonesia (HMID) actually received a strong boost from the Hyundai Stargazer. The MPV family model is considered to be the main support for Hyundai's performance, because it is able to survive better than the overall market decline trend.

HMID Chief Operating Officer Fransiscus Soerjopranoto, revealed that the MPV segment experienced a significant contraction this year. However, the decline in Stargazer sales is still relatively mild, so Hyundai actually gained additional market share.

"In the MPV class, the market has dropped drastically, up to 26 percent. But for us, coincidentally, Stargazer's decline is only around 7 percent, so we can actually gain market share," said Frans in Jakarta recently.

This condition makes Stargazer's market share now in the range of 7.3 to 7.5 percent. This achievement places Stargazer as Hyundai's largest contributor throughout 2025.

"Stargazer's market share can now be increased to 7.3 to 7.5 percent," he explained.

In terms of competition, Stargazer's position is also getting stronger. If Toyota Avanza and Toyota Veloz are separated as two different models, Stargazer is in fourth place, but if the two are combined, then the Hyundai MPV rises to third place in the national MPV segment.

"Even now we are in fourth place, if Avanza and Veloz are separated. But if combined, our position is number three with a market share of around 7.5 percent," he said.

Hyundai considers the consistency of Stargazer's performance amid market pressure as the basis for continuing to strengthen its marketing and consumer education strategies, one of which is through the Stargazer Immersion program. Hyundai hopes that Stargazer's image as a family MPV will strengthen, while maintaining the momentum of market share growth in Indonesia.
