Have A Hybrid Car, When Will Mitsubishi Sell In Indonesia?

JAKARTA - In the midst of the incessant brands of competitors launching hybrid cars, Mitsubishi still has no sign of bringing the technology to Indonesia soon. In fact, this Japanese manufacturer already has several hybrid car lines.

It is known that XForce Hybrid and Xpander Hybrid have already launched in the global market, including Thailand. The presence of the two in neighboring countries raises speculation that Indonesia will soon follow, but until now there is no certainty about the launch time.

Responding to this, PT Mitsubishi Krama Yudha Sales Indonesia (MMKSI) admitted that the hybrid car option was already on the company's radar. However, they are still waiting for the momentum that is considered the most appropriate to introduce it to the domestic market.

"For the hybrid, we have considered the right time (to launch a hybrid car in Indonesia). So just wait," said Director of Product Strategy Division of PT MMKSI Masaaki Fujiwara, at ICE BSD City, Tangerang, recently.

Interestingly, Mitsubishi's move towards electrification began to appear from an administrative perspective. The company is known to have registered a vehicle information indicator design.

In the Official News of Industrial Design No. 20/DI/2024 published by the Directorate General of Intellectual Property of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, an illustration is shown describing how the hybrid car system works.

This move raises strong speculation that Mitsubishi is actually ready, just waiting for the time that is considered the most strategic to press the launch button in Indonesia. It is strongly suspected that the first model to launch was a hybrid Xpander.

In Thailand, Xpander HEV is marketed with a tag of 981,000 baht or around Rp. 478 million. This model is also equipped with Mitsubishi e:Motion technology, including an electric hybrid system that focuses on fuel efficiency and optimal performance.

In addition, there are seven driving modes that can be adjusted to road conditions, plus the Active Yaw Control (AYC) feature which maintains car stability while maneuvering. The combination of these technologies ensures a safer, more comfortable, and environmentally friendly driving experience.
