Not Only Bringing Kei Cars, BYD Also Launches Electric Trucks At JMS

JAKARTA - Not only focusing on the passenger car segment, BUT BYD is also targeting the commercial segment in the Japanese automotive market, by launching the T35 electric truck at the Japan Mobility Show 2025.

The presence of the electric truck marks the company's strategic move into the Japanese commercial vehicle market. The vehicle, specially designed for the Japanese market, is scheduled for release in the spring of 2026 at an estimated price of 8 million yen or around Rp.871 million.

"T35 reflects our commitment to the Japanese market in vehicles that meet commercial and lifestyle needs," said Japanese BYD President Liu Xueliang, quoted from the Carnewschina page, Thursday, October 30.

T35 is available in a van aluminum and flat tub configurations. The car is equipped with Battery Blade LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) BYD technology and combines Cell-to-Chassis (CTC) designs, which integrate live battery systems with vehicle chassis to improve stability and security.

With a WLTC reach of 250 kilometers in one charge, T35 is powered by a rear-mounted electric motor that produces a maximum power of 150 kW (201 hp) and a peak torque of 340 Nm.

Interestingly, this vehicle is equipped with an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), including the Front Collision Warning (FCW), Adaptive Explore Control (ACC), and Path Departure Alert (LDW).

The cabin is equipped with a 12.8-inch touchscreen with speech recognition capabilities, as well as driver seats ventilating with wireless heating and charging functions. T35 also supports Over-The-Air (OTA) updates, which ensure system upgrades and continued features.

The flagship feature is the Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, which offers up to 10 kW of power, so this truck can function as a moving resource. This functionality is dramatically demonstrated at the exhibition with the installation of moving bunkers on a flat tub version, which shows the flexibility of this vehicle outside of traditional commercial applications.

"Combination between practical utilities and their innovative features establishes new standards in the electric commercial vehicle segment," he concluded.
