Here's How To Get Out Of Tesla's Car When The Battery Is Really Out

JAKARTA Tesla's electric car is known for its advanced technology and futuristic automatic door system. However, behind its sophistication, the question arises: how to get out of the car when the electric power really runs out?

A situation like this could be a scourge for drivers and passengers, especially if it occurs in remote locations or emergency conditions. Reporting from Carscoops, Monday, October 13, all Tesla models have actually been equipped with a manual door release system that can be used when the electricity goes out.

This mechanism allows users to mechanically open the door without the help of an electronic system, provided they know where it is located. For Tesla Model Y, an emergency release system can be found at the front, right in front of the window button.

Just pull the lever up to open the door manually. While in the back seat, users must open a small panel that has an open door triangle icon, then pull a small rope towards the front to remove the hook of the door.

In the latest version of the 3rd Model (2024 and above), the system is similar to the Model Y. However, for the production of 2023 down, the backdoor does not yet have a manual mechanism. That's why car owners are advised to understand this difference so as not to panic when dealing with emergency situations.

Cybertruck, Tesla's futuristic pickup, also has a manual solution. Front door can be opened by pulling the lever on the inside, while at the back door, users need to remove a small panel in the door pocket and then pull the rope off the front.

Whereas in Model X, which is known for its falcon wing' design, the emergency exit method is a little more complicated. The front door still uses a mechanical lever like any other model, but for the back door, the user must remove the speaker lattice on the door panel to access the manual disconnection cable and pull it down so that the door opens.

The Model S is the most complex. For the latest model, the front remains using manual levers, while the backdoor requires additional steps: turning the carpet at the bottom of the door, then pulling the lever behind it in the middle of the car to unlock the door.

Tesla reminded that if the vehicle's body structure is damaged by a hard impact, the door may still be difficult to open even with a manual mechanism. Therefore, the driver is advised to bring a glass breaking device and a seat belt cutting as additional emergency equipment.
