JAKARTA - Nissan took steps by not selling 2026 Ariya EV in the United States, a move that was first revealed in dealer memos.

Citing from the Carscoops page, Friday, September 19, the latest report from Autonews, one of Nissan's spokeswomans revealed this, and his presence will be replaced by Nissan Leaf all-new.

"Nissan halted production of MY26 Ariya for the US market and re-allocated resources to support the launch of the fully new LEAF 2026, which will have the lowest retail price among all new electric vehicles currently being sold in the US," a spokesman told us.

What will happen after that date is still uncertain, although the possibility is not very promising. When asked if this electric crossover will return for the 2027 model, Nissan has yet to make a commitment.

"No decision has yet been made. We will continue to monitor market conditions and will respond as needed to ensure we meet consumer demand with the right ranks of electrification products," said the spokesman.

However, Nissan continues to be committed to keeping Ariya's consumers good in terms of obtaining spare parts, guarantees to the best service.

The Reason Why Ariya Was Put Aside

When asked why Ariya was ruled out, Nissan highlighted changes in market conditions which considered the US electric vehicle market to be very dynamic, and this step was a proactive response to consumer preferences that continued to grow.

Along with the increasing demand for affordable and practical electric vehicles, Nissan leads with products that present innovations as well as values. The all-new Leaf 2026 is the key to meeting this demand," said the spokesman.

However, it is suspected that the economic reality is likely to have the same impact as consumer tastes. The federal electric vehicle tax credit will expire by the end of this month, which will further burden models at higher prices.

Ariya also has an additional cost issue as this vehicle is made in Japan, meaning the tariff is still in effect, although the new trade agreement cut import duties to 15 percent.
