JAKARTA Mercedes-Benz officially launched the latest electric version of the GLC that carries EQ technology. Its presence is not only a new model debut, but also a marker of the start of the launch of the largest product in Mercedes-Benz history.

Citing Carscoops' report, Wednesday, September 10, the German manufacturer is targeting the launch of more than 40 new models in the next three years, while reducing production costs significantly.

Interestingly, Mercedes is also taking bold steps by shifting focus from luxury to a wider range of vehicles. This means that in the future consumers can look forward to the car line-up with higher production volume and more affordable prices, in order to strengthen the company's financial position.

To support this major transformation, Mercedes poured large investments in its production facilities in Europe. After the completion of the new electric CLA production upgrade at the Rastatt factory, Germany, GLC EQ production will be carried out in Bremen, followed by C-Class EQ EV in Kecskemet, Hungary.

It doesn't stop there, the Sindelfingen factory is also set up to produce the latest electric model from Mercedes-AMG, including a production version of the recently introduced AMG GT XX concept.

"With the new electricity GLC, the launch of the largest product in the history of our company continues to gain momentum", said Mercedes-Benz Chief of Executive Ola Kryptlenius.

One of the most anticipated models is the latest Van Electric Architecture (VLE)-based luxury MPV. The car is designed to accommodate up to eight passengers, insisting Mercedes' ambition to penetrate various market segments.

In addition, Mercedes is also preparing a series of new models, ranging from electric G-Class SUVs, the latest generation S-Classes, to new GLAs and GLBs, which are ready to enliven the global market.

In boosting production, Mercedes will integrate the MO360 digital ecosystem and MO360 Data Platform to its entire plant, in order to create more precision production digitization.

As part of the efficiency strategy, Mercedes targets production cost cuts of up to 10 percent by 2024'2027. This step will be supported by the use of artificial intelligence (AI), renewable energy, as well as increased logistics efficiency and manufacturing processes.
