Get Additional Funding Of IDR 4 Trillion, Xpeng Aeroht Flying Car Ready To Fly High

JAKARTA - The flying car unit of the automotive giant Xpeng, Xpeng Aeroht, today announced that it has successfully completed a Series B funding round worth 250 million US dollars (equivalent to IDR 4 trillion). This significant funding provides a strong impetus for companies to accelerate the mass production of their innovative flying cars.

This good news was delivered directly by Xpeng Aeroht via the Weibo platform as well as X, as reported by CnEVPost, Tuesday, July 15, Xpeng stated that the mass production process for their modular flying car "Land Aircraft Carrier" had undergone a significant acceleration.

Chairman and CEO of Xpeng He Xiaopeng, also shared the funding news on Weibo. He revealed that the factory to be used to produce this flying car has reached the final stages of construction and is scheduled to be completed in the fourth quarter of this year.

"Other good news about Xpeng Aeroht will soon be announced," He added, hinting at exciting developments in the future.

The US$250 million Series B funding is a combination of two stages. Previously, on August 5, 2024, Xpeng Aeroht announced that it had secured US$150 million in the B1 Series funding round and launched a Series B2 funding round.

The previous funding round for the Xpeng flying car unit was in October 2021, when they managed to secure more than $500 million in Series A funding, with a pre-money valuation exceeding $1 billion.

Xpeng Aeroht also has a great ambition to step into the stock market through Initial Public Offering (IPO). At the end of last month, Xpeng Aeroht appointed Du Chao as his first Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Du Chao, who has a 10-year experience at Deutsche Bank, is expected to accelerate the company's IPO process. During his career at Deutsche Bank, Du Chao has led dozens of IPO financing projects abroad and M&A cross-border projects.

Realistic Flying Car visionXpeng Aeroht, which dates back to the Xpeng technology division since 2013 and officially established in 2020, has a head office in Guangzhou. At their Tech Day event on October 24, 2023, Xpeng explained that Aeroht's flying car development path would include eVTOL flying cars (Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing) and modular flying cars.

This modular flying car consists of a flying unit and a master vehicle capable of recharging the flight unit. Zhao Deli, founder and president of Xpeng Aeroht, at a press conference September 3, 2024, stated that they plan to achieve mass production and delivery of modular flying cars by 2026, with an estimated price not exceeding 279,050 US dollars (equivalent to IDR 4.5 billion).

In October 2024, the construction of the Xpeng Aeroht flying car manufacturing facility has begun, with an annual production capacity of 10,000 units.
