Is Jaecoo Interested In Offering A New Model With FWD Movement In Indonesia? This Is The Answer

JAKARTA - Jaecoo is one of the new players in the Indonesian automotive industry from China and has started his steps earlier this year.

In its debut in the country, this premium brand under the auspices of the Chery Group has introduced two models namely J7 and J8.

As a new brand in Indonesia, Jaecoo launched J7 and J8 in the Super Hybrid and All-wheel drive (AWD) variants. However, will this brand present a model with a front-wheel drive (FWD) like the one-driving brand, Chery?

The country director of Jaecool Indonesia, Max Zhou emphasized that the dose of this brand will only sell SHS and AWD variants considering their identity that prioritizes resilience.

"Our position is clearly different from Chery. So for the future, Jaecoo will only offer SHS and AWD," Max told reporters in Kembangan, Jakarta, Monday, June 30.

He also added that the Jaecoo brand is more premium by targeting consumers who want to own strong and reliable vehicles in all fields.

" Jaecool's identity is off-road and is above for personal needs. So in the future, we will not present the latest FWD-driven ICE product," Max explained.

Model J7 became one of the first vehicles marketed by Jaecool and received positive interest since his order was opened at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2025.

As a hybrid SUV, Jaecool J7 offers a combination of performance and efficiency. Thanks to SHS technology, this vehicle combines 1.6 liter turbo engines with electric motors, which allow fuel-efficient motors but remain powered. With a pure electric distance of up to 90 km, J7 is suitable for daily use in cities and long-distance travel.
