Xpeng Prioritizes Local Assembly X9 Before G6, Here's The Consideration

JAKARTA - Xpeng inaugurated prices for two electric models in the Indonesian market, namely G6 and X9 in a competitive premium segment.

The G6 model is offered in one variant, namely 2WD Standard Range at a price of IDR 599 million On The Road Jakarta. Meanwhile, X9 has three variants such as Standard Range worth IDR 990 million, Long Range Pro IDR 1.059 billion, and Long Range Pro + IDR 1.099 billion.

For the Indonesian market, Erajaya Active Lifestyle (ERAL) as the sole agent of brand holder (ATPM) will localize X9 first before later producing CKD for G6.

Xpeng Indonesia Vice President Marketing, Hari Arifianto said the reason for X9 to be assembled was Completely Knocked Down (CKD) because the volume of orders was more than the G6 with the readiness of CKD units between July and August.

"We see that the composition between X9 and the G6 is currently still more X9. The readiness of the CKD is between July and August. That's also just the X9," said Hari when met by reporters in the Tebet area, Jakarta, Thursday, June 19.

However, units for early customers who order their vehicles will get products with CBU status first in order to reduce the waiting period.

Hari added that the CBU product is only temporary until the production line runs optimally with X9 which first goes through the CKD process and it is hoped that the G6 crossover will follow.

The manufacturer will speed up the CKD production line considering that the import incentives set by the government will end at the end of this year.

"We focus on X9 first until at least the first semester. However, we want at least all models to have CKD as soon as possible, especially import incentives until the end of this year the validity period expires," added Hari.

ERAL will locally assemble Xpeng X9 through collaboration with PT Handal Motor Indonesia in the Purwakarta area, West Java.
