JAKARTA - Automotive manufacturer from Sweden, Volvo announced a recall involving more than 450,000 vehicles in North America.

This recall resulted in 413,151 vehicles in the United States (US) and 40,673 other units in Canada due to problems with the camera as it moved back and forth.

Reporting from Motor1, Saturday, May 10, this is considered a safety system that failed to comply with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111 for rear visibility. Due to this problem, a recall must be done.

It is stated that the cause does not come from the camera, but rather a software error that can cause the camera display not to appear during the driving cycle.

The error code can be triggered under certain conditions that can prevent the display from appearing. The nature of this code is not explained in more detail, but the result is that the driver sees an error message that says "Camera is temporaryly not available".

Luckily, Volvo has not found any reports of accidents or injuries caused by the problem.

The affected models are quite diverse including the C40, S90, V90 Cross County, and XC60 models, all of which are 2022-2025. Then there are V90 models in 2022 as well as S60, V60, V60 Cross County, and XC90 in 2023-2025. The compactification SUV XC40 model in 2021-2025 was also affected by the problem.

Volvo first learned of potential problems in the spring of 2021. That's when the first report on the message of error appeared.

The brand, which is under the auspices of Geely Holdings, has recorded 57 failed reports that may have been linked since then. The investigation was upgraded on March 26, 2025, which eventually led to a recall.

Volvo directs vehicle owners to take their cars to the dealer network to update the software system through over-the-air.

Notifications to dealers have already started and announcements to each owner will be made on June 24.
