Chery Gets European Market Through ICar, V23 Becomes Road Opener

JAKARTA The automotive brand from Wuhu China, Chery continues to show its ambition to penetrate the global market. This time, their expansionary steps are marked by plans to launch a new brand named iCar in England next year.

As its debut, iCar will present the V23 electric SUV which was previously introduced globally last year. The model is projected to be Chery's mainstay in attracting consumer interest in the European market, particularly the UK.

Citing the Friday edition of the Autocar report, May 2, V23 is equipped with a four-wheeled driving system (4WD) and is capable of generating up to 208 hp of power. This car relies on a battery with a capacity of 82 kWh of NMC technology, which allows a distance of up to 500 km or about 311 miles in one charge.

Not only V23, but this brand one will also increase its model by immediately launching a medium-sized SUV, V25 which has a range-extender (EREV) drive.

The iCar V25 car relies on a 1.5 liter turbo engine, serving as an additional generator to power its electrical system.

Furthermore, Chery also said that he would present a small SUV called V21 which is expected to be a direct competitor to Jeep Fighter in 2027.

The automaker also announced its plans to present a larger V29 or electric SUV, but the launch has yet to be confirmed for the UK market.

Not only the products offered, but the iCar brand will come with 2,000 dealer networks consisting of 100 different countries while at the same time encouraging Chery's ambition in terms of exports.

The iCar brand was founded in 2023 as a smart electric vehicle brand with various planned body types including sports cars and passenger vehicles, but now the brand focuses on off-road-style cars.

This brand will also pave the other market, including Indonesia by introducing iCar V23 at the upcoming 2025 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS).

For prices in China itself, iCar V23 is priced at a price of 110,000-150,000 yuan or around Rp. 240-328 million. The price above cannot be a reference for the Indonesian market, because automatically for the initial stage it will be assembled in its home country.
