JAKARTA - The growth of electric vehicles is increasingly massive in Indonesia which is decorated by various new brands, especially from China.

Manufacturers such as BYD, Wuling, Neta, Chery, to Geely are currently coloring the electric vehicle market in the country and there is the potential that new players in the segment will increase.

Chairman of the Indonesian Electric Vehicle Industry Association (Periklindo), Moeldoko, confirmed that there will be new players who will soon invest in the Indonesian market in the future.

"In the future, there are several new brands that want to invest in Indonesia, but we will not reveal them yet," said Moeldoko when met by the media at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta, Tuesday, April 29.

He also revealed that the number of new brands that will enter is 1-2 brands from China and is currently in the stage of further talks.

"At least 1 to 2 new brands. But we can't name the brand yet," added Moeldoko.

Moeldoko also ensured that no brand from outside China would invest in the Indonesian market. However, it is open to discussing this further.

"Actually, the government has prepared an investment climate. It's just a response from the countries concerned cannot be forced," said Moeldoko.

Currently, the Periclindo Electric Vehicle Show (PEVS) exhibition is being held which is attended by various electric vehicle brands in Indonesia.

The exhibition participants consisted of MAB, DFSK, Seres, Wuling, BMW, BYD, Kalista, Prestige, Hyundai, Mini, Denza, Chery and Morris Garages (MG) representing four-wheeled vehicles.

Meanwhile, several participants from the participating two-wheeled EV vehicles such as AHM (Astra Honda Motor), Dubbs, Kawasaki, Alva, United, Indomobil E-motor Adora, Maka Motors, and Selis.
