JAKARTA - The automotive group from South Korea, the Hyundai Motor Group (HMG) has officially introduced a new generation of hybrid systems that are claimed to be more fuel efficient and powerful than previous technologies.

According to the company, this advanced system is planned to be present in various new models of Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis in the future in the hybrid segment. This technology is expected to provide the latest driving experience for customers.

"We have developed a new innovative hybrid system that combines the long-standing experience of engine development, transmission, and hybrid systems with electrification technology applied to Hyundai's electric vehicles," said Hyundai's Executive Vice President and Head of Electrified Propulsion Test Center, Dong Hee Han on the company's official website, Wednesday, April 23.

The next-generation hybrid system has a new transmission with two flexiblely paired electric motors with various internal combustion engine configurations, resulting in more optimal fuel performance and efficiency.

In addition, various electrified-focused technologies have been incorporated into next-generation hybrid systems to improve driving performance, refinement, and driving convenience.

This latest transmission includes P1 driving motors that handle battery lighting, energy generation, and energy use to assist propulsion. Meanwhile, there is a P2 motorbike on transmission that is tasked with propulsion and regenerative braking.

This integrated double motor arrangement increases fuel power, performance, and efficiency while reducing dental movement and reducing noise and vibrations for a smoother driving experience.

The transmission can be paired to various engine configurations, resulting in power output ranging from 100 ps to mid-300 ps which allows it to be compatible with compact to large vehicles.

Hyundai confirmed that the system will be used on the latest 2.5 liter turbo engine, as well as perfecting the technology of this drive to maximize efficiency. This hybrid technology will also be available in the next generation of 1.6 liter configurations.

The system will debut on the confirmed hybrid all-new Palisade model to start mass production this month. Then, the technology is extended to other vehicles on future Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis brands.
