Mercedes-Benz A-Class Will Not Be Present Latest Generation, Here's Why

JAKARTA - Not long ago, Mercedes-Benz has launched a new generation of CLA models that have all-new designs and offer different engine drivers, from EVs to hybrids.

However, the presence of the car is also a sign for the A-Class model that will not have a new generation in the future.

This is further news from rumors of the end of the A-Class era that has been circulating since 2022. Now, the famous German manufacturer has officially confirmed the fate of the compact car.

Mercedes-Benz AG Chief Technology Officer, Markus Schafer said A-Class is no longer included in the manufacturing plan section in the global market, although the hatchback series is quite popular with many parties.

"We know the hatchback is a favorite type of body in Europe, but it's not part of the plan, and we have to make a choice. Even the hard ones," Schafer was quoted as saying by Carscoops, Thursday, March 20.

Thus, the compact vehicle line offered by Mercedes-Benz will be reduced to four models, namely the latest CLA, the latest generation from GLA and GLB, as well as the presence of a small version of G-Class.

In addition, Mercedes-Benz will also present the latest EQA and EQB which are expected to be integrated into the ranks of GLA and GLB which are part of the manufacturer's plan to remove the name EQ in its future electric vehicle.

Although it has not been explained in detail about the cycle's expiration date from A-Class, previous reports said the model would last until 2026 before it was stopped production.

The current generation of A-Class with the code W177, is offered in several drivers in a number of markets ranging from pure gasoline, diesel, to plug-in hybrids.

The A-Class is also present in the AMG version of the A 35 4 Matic variant which offers a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder machine that provides 302 hp and 400 Nm torque.

The highest variant, namely A 45 S 4 Matic +, has the same engine configuration as twin-turbo so that it gives a power boost of 416 hp and a torque of 500 Nm with the highest speed of 270 km/hour.
