TANGERANG - German car manufacturer Smart has officially returned to the Indonesian market through the 2024 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). However, at this exhibition, the manufacturer only brought model #3 at ICE BSD, Tangerang.

This compact crossover model was introduced in two variants, namely Premium as standard and Brabus which is the highest. Globally, Smart has one model called #1 which was not brought to this event. Why is that?

Smart's Global Chief Marketing Officer, Mandy Zhang, said that her party considers this model suitable for the Indonesian market because of its compact design, but has spacious space.

“This car has several advantages such as design, dimensions and technology. So we believe it is a wise choice to introduce it first in Indonesia," said Zhang to VOI, Tangerang, some time ago.

Apart from that, she believes that this model has other attractions such as its modern design, compact but spacious dimensions, and excellent performance so that it will be popular with the Indonesian public.

“We consider #3 to have good design and performance and we are confident in this model in representing a true EV to the market,” added Mandy.

The Premium type is equipped with an electric motor with 200 kW power and 343 Nm of torque so it can run from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds with a top speed of 180 km/h. Its performance is assisted by rear wheel drive (RWD).

With a 66 kWh ternary lithium battery capacity, the car can run up to a range of 455 km on a single charge and is capable of charging with 150 kW DC fast charging from 10-80 percent in 30 minutes.

Meanwhile, the Brabus type has a more powerful electric motor of up to 315 kW and 543 Nm of torque which can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds with a top speed of up to 180 km/h assisted by all-wheel drive (AWD).

Carrying a similar battery with a capacity of 66 kWh ternary lithium, this car has a range of 415 km on a single charge.

So, for the Indonesian market, the two smart variants have not yet been given a price tag. The reason is, this model is still in the introductory stage and waiting for input from consumers.
