A Software Error Occurs, Mercedes Withdraws 7,500 EQS And S-Class Units

JAKARTA - German automaker Mercedes-Benz announced the recall of its newest electric car, Mercedes EQS and S-Class.

The cause of this recall is due to an error in the software system in both models. It is known, the speedometer section always shows a 0 km/hour figure that does not show the actual speed of the car.

Reporting from Carscoops, Jum'at, May 26, as many as 7,558 vehicles were affected by the Mercedes EQS 450 and EQS 580 2022 models, Mercedes S580e 2023, and Mercedes-Maybach S580 and S680 2023.

Mercedes began to notice the issue in the ESPN system in January 2022, when the manufacturer received a report on the missing dynamic control system.

This is a big problem because cars can lose functions such as acceleration slips, electronic brake style distributions, and even anti-lock braking systems.

Based on the results of field conditions simulations, Mercedes technicians found this error could trigger the failure of the ESPN system.

Currently, Mercedes is recording 96 reports that may be linked to this issue. Although, none of them resulted in an accident or injury.

Mercedes will send a notification letter to vehicle owners starting July 18 and owners are required to bring these models to the official dealers so that technicians can update the software system.
