JAKARTA - A luxury electric car manufacturer, Lucid Motors, made a recall on the water sedan model. The number affected by the recall was 637 units.

The withdrawal was triggered by damage to parts of the electric motor which could result in a loss of car power. Lucid began investigating this issue from May 2022, at first many sedan owners reported losing power to the service center.

After investigation, it was found that several electrically activated contact switches that transfer energy to the driving force could suddenly open, cut off power.

To overcome this problem, Lucid owners are advised to take their vehicles to the service center, then Lucid will update the software and replace the contact, free of charge.

Reporting from TheVerge, Tuesday, March 28, replacement contacts have been produced with a stronger magnetic force to prevent future damage.

It is estimated that the recall will have quite an impact on the Lucid brand. Apart from being a relatively new brand, Air is also Lucid's first production model.

In addition, the price cuts for EV vehicles from Tesla and the availability of cheaper EV models from other manufacturers are increasingly weighing on demand for new vehicles from startups, such as Lucid and Rivian Automotive.
