JAKARTA - Manchester United were thrashed by Liverpool 5-0 in the ninth Premier League match at Old Trafford Stadium, Sunday, in a match that was famous as the Northwest Derby.

In this match, Mohamed Salah scored a hat-trick to complete the Reds' opening goals scored by Naby Keita and Diogo Jota. While the Red Devils were getting worse, after falling behind by five balls, Cristiano Ronaldo's goal was disallowed and Paul Pogba got a red card.

After the game, Man United legend Paul Scholes asked United to let Pogba go and insisted the midfielder would not be missed if he left Old Trafford in January.

"To say it was a disappointing day would be an understatement," Scholes told Premier League Productions.

"I think we all realize it's difficult, I just think the manager got caught up in the emotion of the comeback (against Atalanta) last Wednesday night.

"We kept going back to that game (against Atalanta), but you never do that against Liverpool, they have too much quality.

"I don't think (the defeat) was due to (our) lack of effort, I think tactically they (United) prepared themselves in such a way that this (defeat) could happen and unfortunately it did.

"Paul Pogba came on the pitch at half-time to try to help the team and maybe get a little bit of respect about that, trying to get on the ball, trying to show how strong he is in the middle of the pitch...but the goal went away.

"Then got a red card with a ridiculous tackle, now you're 5-0 down with 10 men.

"You have to think, if Ole was still the manager there, would we see Paul Pogba again in a United shirt? He's been causing havoc over the past few years. Everyone knows how talented he is, everyone believes in him, every manager believes in him and let him be the player he used to be.

"But with all the fuss, not signing his contract, almost demanding a ransom from the club, and then he came in and did something like that.

"It's not Ole's fault, don't get me wrong, but that's the part that almost summed up United's performance today.

"Listen, he will probably play (again) right? But I don't think they will lose anything if he doesn't play again.

"He had a lot of chances, he kept saying he lacked consistency, but what he did today was (lack of) discipline and disrespect towards your manager and team-mates."
