JAKARTA - Midfielder Enzo Fernandez is rumored to have left Chelsea. Failure in the Champions League and not playing full time against Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of the 16-year-old round immediately sparked rumors that Fernandez would leave Stamford Bridge. However, Fernandez answered diplomatically by waiting for the 2026 World Cup.

Rumors of Fernandez's departure have always emerged during his time at Chelsea. He is said to have been targeted by PSG and Real Madrid. Only the transfer plans of the two European giants have never been realized.

Meanwhile, Fernandez, who was brought from Benfica in 2023, still expressed his commitment to playing at Chelsea. However, there is news that the Argentine national team midfielder will leave The Blues. Especially after Chelsea was eliminated in the Champions League.

In the second match against PSG, which was held at Stamford Bridge, Wednesday, March 18, 2026 WIB, Chelsea failed to show maximum performance and was forced to surrender 3-0. The goals of the Les Parisiens were produced by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Bradley Barcola and Senny Mayulu.

The result made the English Premier League club lose 8-2 on aggregate. The reason is that in the first match at PSG's home, they had to admit the home team's advantage 5-2.

Fernandez himself only played for an hour before being replaced by Romeo Lavia. In addition to him, manager Liam Rosenior pulled Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro. The strategy even made Rosenior a target of scorn from fans.

How not, Chelsea was already 2-0 down, but Rosenior instead replaced the player who could actually help overcome the West London club's sterility.

Fernandez himself looked disappointed with Rosenior's decision. Moreover, the change of a number of players that had an impact on the team. As a result, rumors emerged that Fernandez was said to be leaving. However, Fernandez refused to respond to the press's questions. He stated that he was more focused on Chelsea's next match, both in the domestic competition and the FA Cup.

"I don't know. My focus is still here [Chelsea]. We still have eight Premier League and FA Cup games. Since I came to Chelsea, we have passed through various tests like this and can overcome them. Now we are focused on winning the FA Cup and trying to reach the target of qualifying for the Champions League next season," said Fernandez as quoted by The Sun.

Regarding his future at Chelsea, the 25-year-old does not want to lose focus and will only discuss it after the 2026 World Cup. "After the competition and the FA Cup, then there is the World Cup. So we'll see after the championship," he said.

Responding to Chelsea's defeat at home, Fernandez stated the inability of the players to control the match. Instead, PSG's game developed well. Even the defending champion was ahead when the match was only six minutes.

"I think we were unable to control the game. In the first match, we lost focus in the last 15 minutes which made us concede three goals. And this happened again when we started the match," said Fernandez.

"At this level, you can't concede two goals so quickly because of the details of the game. It must be admitted that from these two matches, PSG played better and deserved to qualify," he said.

Meanwhile, Rosenior refused to respond to rumors of Fernandez's departure. According to him, the team is only focused on the match against Everton in the domestic competition this weekend.

"First of all I don't see that behavior [Fernandez's departure]. After all, it's hard to discuss a speculation [about player transfers] after the game. The important thing now is to focus on the next game and we have to get better results against Everton," said Rosenior.
