KONI Pusta chairman, Marciano Norman, emphasized that he would ban perpetrators of harassment from participating in Indonesian sports forever (KONI Central document).

JAKARTA - The government through the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) and the Central Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) responded seriously to the case of sexual harassment that occurred in the sport of achievement.

The Minister of Youth and Sports began by appreciating the victim's courage in revealing the case.

"Our kickboxing athletes are very brave to reveal the problems that we have to fight and we clean it up thoroughly."

"We at the Ministry of Youth and Sports are certainly in the forefront, together with all sports stakeholders, that things like this should not exist anymore. The culprit, I'm sorry, yes, if I use harsh words with the term hell."

"There is no longer any activity in the world of sports for life. If it becomes an area that can become a domain, yes, in this case the police institution, we are very supportive. Our sport must be clean," said the Minister of Youth and Sports.

The Kemenpora response was supported by KONI Pusat, Marciano Norman. He said that his party would put the perpetrators on the Indonesian sports blacklist. This means that perpetrators will not be able to return to the world of sports in the country forever.

"KONI Pusat fully supports the policy of the Minister of Youth and Sports. We fight cases like this, there should be no coaches and those in coaching for performance sports who commit violations, let alone sexual harassment."

"This is very shameful and should not exist in our environment. In the future, these perpetrators should not be present in sports activities, and should not be members of sports organizations," said the President of the Central KONI.

In addition, the perpetrator must also be processed according to applicable legal regulations. In addition, protection for athletes is the main priority for KONI Pusat.

"The point is to protect the safety of athletes while they are doing activities, whether they are training, whether they are participating in events, it must be our priority."

"These athletes are the Patriots of Sports, they are fighters in peacetime, they must be treated the best. They must be respected and their sweat is only for Indonesia," said Marciano.

The Head of KONI Central further appealed to all members to pay attention.

"I appeal, all member organizations of the Central KONI, 38 KONI Provinces, KONI IKN, 81 sports branch organizations and their members, six functional organizations, to give serious attention to ensure that there are no cases of sexual harassment in the country."

"I also appeal to the entire sports community not to hesitate to report to us if they see any incidents that lead to sexual harassment."

"I also hope that parents will not hesitate to report this to us as soon as possible," said Marciano.

Victims can report to KONI Pusat, either in the form of a letter, or social media.

Meanwhile, for the victims, KONI Pusat is trying to provide support for psychological treatment.

"It so happens that the head of the sport science field is also the chairman of the Association of Sports Psychology (IPO). The best sports psychologists are also at KONI."

The case of alleged sexual harassment in the Indonesian sports environment surfaced after the rock climber spoke out. The incident immediately became a concern.

The Indonesian Bouldering Federation (FPTI) immediately deactivated the national training center (pelatnas) coach of bouldering who allegedly harassed several athletes.

FPTI also created a fact-finding team (TPF) to oversee the case until it was completed. In addition, FPTI supports athletes who are victims to follow up on the case to the legal realm.
